Welcome to Highland Annexe
Do you crave relaxation, clean air, beautiful beaches, stunning forests, towering mountains and friendly locals? Then you need to come and stay with us in our two bedroom self catering holiday let in the Scottish Highlands!
We are Maggs and Dan, along with our two children. We moved here from Suffolk , England on Boxing Day 2017. We wanted a different pace of life and a change so after initially wanting to self-build we found this house on the Black Isle and the rest is history
About Us
We have for holiday rental a self-contained annexe that’s attached to our family home. The annexe is separated from us by an internal locked dividing door. You will have your own external entrance.
Dogs
We love dogs at Highland Annexe and it’s the most important factor in any booking to our children!
We have no set maximum number of dogs (and haven’t yet hit a limit). You'll have an enclosed part of the garden that is specifically for our four legged guests and can be accessed directly from the Annexe.
We leave spare bowls, blankets and towels in case you’ve left anything at home and will point you in the right direction for stunning dog walks right from the front door.

The property was ideal for exploring the area around with some lovely beaches and walking. The property and kitchen were very clean and fully equiped like being at home, it was obvious a lot of thought had been put into the planning. Both us and the dogs loved the garden. Communication was excellent and the extra touches of food essentials were great.Posted on Google Tracey L12 April 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Our first visit and highly recommend the Highland Annexe for an idyllic dog friendly stay. Spacious, comfortable and everything we needed for our stay and more. Ideal peaceful base for us to explore the Highlands. Our 2 dogs are normally quite anxious and noise sensitive but were very relaxed staying here and loved the space inside, and out in the large enclosed grass garden. It was a joy to come back to this accommodation after our exploring each day - the Annexe has been well thought out for a comfortable dog friendly stay. The host Maggs was so welcoming and helpful from the initial booking to arrival and all the personal touches including the comprehensive welcome pack, fresh bread, butter, jam and milk on arrival were so appreciated. We had an amazing relaxed stay and can’t wait for the next opportunity to return.Posted on Google Michelle McHardy6 January 2026Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Has a fantastic few nights here. Maggs is a wonderful host and made us feel so welcome. The annexe has everything you could possibly need for your stay and bed was very comfortable. The information guide was really good with some great walk suggestions. My dog had a great time playing in the enclosed garden. Highly recommend this if you are looking forward to a quite peaceful escape but with plenty to do on your doorstep.Posted on Google Carmel Wake24 November 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. What a lovely place to stay! Everything we could need for the two of us and our pack of six dogs. Great to have everything on one level for the older pups too. Very comfortable and the best kitchen I’ve ever seen in a holiday home. Maggs is really helpful if you need anything but not at all intrusive. Chanonry Point is close by and great for sunrises, sunsets - and dolphins! We were lucky enough to have some clear skies for star and comet spotting. No Aurora though, so we’ll just have to go back!Posted on Google Sally Garrett22 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Great location…. Fabulous hosts, friendly, responsive and so accommodating…. loved the welcome pack … plus all the ‘essentials’ (& extras) for self catering… great spaces for our ‘four legged guests’ Anni & Luke…. absolutely 5*Posted on Google Debbie Bowers15 August 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. The Highland Annexe is an ideal place to stay. The quality of the fixtures, fittings and attention to detail is excellent. The kitchen is a delight and very well equipped. Mags is the perfect host and her communication is very professional and friendly. I would highly recommend it as an enjoyable place to stay and explore the beautiful area. Very dog friendly too, with an enclosed back garden to use. Many thanks to Mags and Dan.Posted on Google Tam Jordan5 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Coming up from Cornwall with three dogs, we stayed for a week , super dog friendly with a touch of luxury for us humans , well worth the drive ! The area is quiet full of birdsong and well placed for sightseeing . The house was spotless and very well equipped, loved the shower !! Maggs and Dan where very helpful and full of local knowledge which helped us greatly when our van broke down . We would certainly stay there again Exactly what we wanted for a dog friendly peaceful holiday 😊 Rachel and Tam JordanPosted on Google Stephanie Pirie4 June 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We are just home from our third stay at Highland Annexe with our four border collies. This is, I am ashamed to admit, our first review. Highland Annexe has everything you need for a relaxing home from home stay. The beds are REALLY comfy and the lovely kitchen has everything you could possibly need in a self catering property. There’s a big wet room - with shower gel and shampoo provided - and a separate utility room, which we found really handy for preparing our dogs’ raw food. There’s a secure garden for the dogs and lots of doggy essentials too, like bowls, doggy shampoo, poo bags and towels, in case you forget your own. The property is ideally situated for exploring the Black Isle, with beautiful beaches and lovely woodland walks, great restaurants, farm shops, independent bakeries and two local breweries (both very good!). There is also a large pet supplies store nearby that has everything you could possibly need if you’re a dog owner and have forgotten something that Highland Annexe doesn’t provide, or if you don’t want to cart food / treats a long distance. Maggs, Dan and family are lovely hosts, super friendly and accommodating. They are always open to suggestions from guests of things that might be useful - the optional stair gate between the kitchen and living space is one we are most definitely appreciative of, with four wet, sandy dogs! Unlike some self catering properties, Maggs & Dan provide tea, coffee, cooking oils, spices, foil, washing up liquid etc to make life as easy as possible for their guests. The personalised welcome note and basket of goodies we received on arrival (everyone gets this, not just repeat guests), was an especially nice touch. I feel like Maggs has become more of a friend than a host - I love our wee chats over the fence whenever we stay. It’s a real home from home for us now. We will definitely return and continue to regularly recommend the property to others.Posted on Google Cathryn Rigby15 May 2025Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Well enclosed garden for any dogs you take quiet and peaceful lovely stay wouldn’t hesitate to go back again it was our first doggie holiday and our doggie loved it. With plenty dog walks around . Thank you for making us feel welcome x
